Promoting socio-economic empowerment and protection of vulnerable Palestinian communities in East Jerusalem
Two-phase programme that helps strengthen the resilience of Palestinian residents in East Jerusalem and preserve the Palestinian character of the city.
To promote the social and economic empowerment of the most neglected communities and vulnerable groups in the Old City of Jerusalem by improving the provision of basic social services and facilitating employment opportunities.
Social Empowerment - Provision of basic services such as psychosocial, educational and literacy support, entertainment/playing spaces and kindergarten, sports and socio-cultural activities for children, youth and vulnerable adults in the Old City.
Economic empowerment - Fostering employment opportunities for young people and their families through activation and/or support of vocational training activities geared towards marketing and small businesses, including the creation of a ceramics workshop.
Capacity building - Improving the empowerment, organisation and sustainability of the partner association - Burj Al Luq Social Center - through specific training courses for staff (English, organisation, management, administration, etc.) and a quality certification programme by an accredited external body.
