Akkar District, Lebanon
Funded by Otto per Mille of the Waldensian Church of Italy, this project contributes to strengthening the drinking water distribution and supply system in the village of Bzal, located in the Akkar district of Northern Lebanon.
this initiative co-funds a larger ongoing WASH and Solid Waste Management project titled “Access to water, environmental upgrading, and sustainable waste management in Lebanon - AWSWM”, co-funded by the Italian Cooperation.
As part of the larger project, it is planned for the village of Bzal to construct a water distribution network of approximately 17.5 km and install 1.8 km of transmission lines, including connections to houses. The project funded by the Otto per Mille of the Waldensian Church of Italy includes the installation of a 2.2 km section of the broader water distribution network, along with 60 house connections. The new distribution line will run along one of the main roads in Bzal village, providing water network access to 60 buildings in total, 58 of which house Bzal residents.
Contribute to ensuring access to safe and reliable water for residents of Bzal (Akkar District) in line with Sustainable Development Goal number 6. The specific goal of the intervention aims to "Improve the availability of water and prevent the spread of waterborne disease through sustainable water infrastructure."
956 individuals (176 families) will directly benefit from the water network extension. The entire Bzal village of 5,717 individuals (964 households) will indirectly benefit as this project will complement the wider infrastructure project.
