Drinking water in Lebanon

For Lebanese and Syrian refugee communities in northern Lebanon

Description

Project set up to build and operate a new water supply system in collaboration with the North Lebanon Water Establishment, to inform Lebanese locals and Syrian refugees about the new service provided and to raise awareness on the need to contribute to its sustainability.

OBJECTIVES

Overall objective
To contribute to the improvement of the living conditions of host communities and Syrian refugees in North Lebanon.

Specific objective
To improve access to safe drinking water for Lebanese host communities and Syrian refugees by upgrading basic water infrastructure.

Activities
  • Preliminary investigations including environmental impact study
  • Excavation and testing of a new well
  • Installation of new water distribution lines
  • Construction and equipping of a pumping station
  • Construction and connection of a water tower reservoir
  • Community awareness campaigns on water conservation and information on new services
